Leading the Pivot | Feedback as Invitation

Welcome to Wednesday! As you step into the natural pivot point of the week, here’s a brief moment of encouragement and perspective to help you lead the pivots in your life.

Leading the Pivot | Feedback as Invitation

Practical wisdom for the pivots that shape us.

The Moment

There is a kind of feedback that lands like a verdict.

It closes the conversation before it is even heard.

At work it can sound like rules. At home it can sound like a lecture. The words may be true, but the posture makes people brace. And when someone is bracing, progress is not the outcome. Self-protection is.

The Pivot

Feedback is meant to open a door, not nail someone to the wall.

We cannot make anyone grow. We can only create the conditions where growth feels possible. When feedback is offered as an invitation, it carries dignity. It leaves room for ownership.

Rules can create behavior. Invitation creates buy in. And buy in is what turns feedback into development over time.

The Move

The next time you step into a feedback conversation, first consider your posture.

Does it sound like a verdict, or an invitation to step forward?

Cheering you on to your best life,
