Leading the Pivot | The Standard Within

Welcome to Wednesday! As you step into the natural pivot point of the week, here’s a brief moment of encouragement and perspective to help you lead the pivots in your life.

Leading the Pivot | The Standard Within

Practical wisdom for the pivots that shape us.

The Moment

There is a kind of work that gets done because someone is watching. The deadline. The expectation from above.

And then there is the kind that gets done because of something quieter. A standard that lives inside us. One we hold regardless of who notices or what gets measured.

Most of us began with that second kind. Somewhere along the way, for some of us, it began to fade.

The Pivot

Intrinsic motivation does not disappear all at once. It dims slowly. Under the weight of seasons that asked more than we had, environments that stopped recognizing the effort, and a pace that left little room to care about the quality of what we produced.

But it does not leave for good.

The drive to do good work, to bring care and quality to what we touch, is not a personality trait reserved for a fortunate few. It is something we tend. Something we can return to, even after a long absence.

The Move

Think about the last time you did something well simply because it deserved your best. Not for the deadline. Not for the recognition.

What would it look like to lead from that place today?

Cheering you on to your best life,
